SPORTS UPDATE 11/26/18

EASTERN NEW MEXICO (KSEL) – Officially football is over on the High Plains as the last two teams that were in action suffered defeats this last weekend. The Farwell Steers were playing in Texas against Stratford. Farwell did score some points, but Stratford scored more, so Farwell’s season does come to an end.  The Portales Rams reached the semi-finals in 4A football, and played against Taos team that put 35 points on the board. The Rams were able to counter with 21 but obviously that was not quite enough so the Rams season comes to an end. In basketball, the Greyhound basketball team went up to Kansas to play against Washburn University and had a lead in the first half but Washburn just shot the lights out in the second half, and won pretty easily. But on a positive note, congratulations to Josh Prock and the Greyhound Women’ Basketball team, they were playing a two-day tournament on the campus of WT, and on Friday they had a nice four-point victory over Colorado State Pueblo and then on Saturday they easily defeated New Mexico Highlands University.
