SPORTS UPDATE 03/01/19
Unfortunately had a couple teams lose last night in District Tournament play, so their dreams of the district tournament championship come to an end. That’d be the Clovis Lady Wildcats who lost by 17 points to Carlsbad, and heartbreaking loss to Texico by one point to Santa Rosa in boys basketball. But the Clovis boys, Melrose boys and the Portales boys all did win, so that means we’ve got some championship games this weekend. The Elida Lady Tigers are going to be playing against Tatum tonight. It will be the Clovis Boys playing against Hobbs for the district play championship. Melrose and Fort Sumner will also decide who is the best in the district. Both Portales squads made it to district championships. The Portales boys will be playing against Roswell-Goddard in Roswell 6 p.m. Our team of Coach and Coach will be broadcasting on 105.9 KSEL Country. Portales Lady Rams are playing at home against Artesia at 6 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1450 Cow Country. Those who are going to the game are encouraged to wear white.
