Angelita M. Solis, 85, of Lubbock passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020. Angelita was born October 2, 1935 in Karnes City, Texas to Egenio and Adela Morales. Angelita married Jesus R. Solis on September 27, 1977. She enjoyed baking for her family as well as for the public.
Angelita is survived by her husband, Jesus Solis; children, Sue Ann Soto, and Rauel Garcia and wife Linda; all of Lubbock; her sister, Teresa Contero of San Antonio; three grandchildren, LaVelle Hernandez, Stephanie and Carlos Dela Cruz, Crystal Soto; nine great grandchildren, Lee, Micaella, Adrian, Nathanial, Luis and Bryan; and four great-great grandchildren; and special extended family, The Velasquez family, Rudy, Becca, Micaela, Adam, Adriana, Ben, Mateo, Mathew and Gloria that were very close to her.
Angelita was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and five sisters.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Combest Family Funeral Homes with rosary being cited at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. A second visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at San Antonio Mortuary, 703 Palo Alto Rd, San Antonio, Tx 78211 with burial to follow at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 30, 2020 at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, Tx 78237.

Prudencio “Jake” Gutierrez, 57 of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 after a long illness.
Jake was born on October 17, 1963 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Jose M. Gutierrez and Mary Ann Duran. Jake was raised in Santa Rosa where he also attended school. On December 20, 1986, Jake married LouAnna in Santa Rosa.
Jake was a life-long resident of Santa Rosa, where he was a parishioner at Saint Rosa of Lima Catholic Church. He worked for the City of Santa Rosa and also did construction work. Jake enjoyed being outdoors, doing yard work—and having a perfect yard. He enjoyed supporting the Dallas Cowboys, and especially cherished the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.
Jake is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife; LouAnna of the family home, his children; Jaclyn Gutierrez and grandson; Derrick Garcia of Houma, Louisiana, Gary Gutierrez and granddaughter; “Side Kick” Layla Gutierrez of Santa Rosa and Yvonne Gutierrez (Ronald Gage) and grandson Hunter Gage of Santa Rosa. Jake is also survived by three sisters and numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Cara Lee Irvin, 84, of Lubbock passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2020. Cara was born October 4, 1936 in Sedalia, Missouri. She was a dancer for Arthur Murray Academy in Kansas City. Cara married Robert Stuart Irvin on October 21, 1960. She worked downtown in Kansas City for a finance company. When Bob and Cara’s son went to school, Cara decided to enroll in college where she received her teaching degree and eventually her doctorate. She went on to teach high school English for 27 years. The couple moved to Lubbock in 2000 to be closer to family and they became members of First Christian Church where Cara was an active volunteer for many years. Cara was a gifted quilter and a member of a group who made over a 100 quilts per year to donate to organizations such as Women’s Protective Service, children’s group homes and many others.
Cara is survived by her husband, Bob Irvin of Lubbock; her grandchildren, Kate and Garrett Irvin of Lubbock; and her brother Norman Taylor of Jefferson City, Missouri. Care is preceded in death by her parents; and her son Ray in 2004.

Arrangements for Anicia Campos, 87 of Santa Rosa are pending with Chavez Funeral Home. Anicia passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque following an extended illness.

Mary S. Deleon of Tahoka passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the age of 84. She was born May 7, 1936 in Karnes City, Texas. As a young child, the family migrated to the Lynn County area where she grew up in O’Donnell and Grassland. Later in life she moved to California to begin new adventures but returned “home” more than 40 years ago. Mary worked as a caregiver at the nursing home, as well as privately and found she had a passion for the elderly. She continued that enthusiasm which lead her to Spartan Community Action. This allowed her to have daily interaction and serve those in need.
Mary had a servant heart and the ability to laugh, smile and joke put those around her at ease. She enjoyed dancing and spending time with her family. She will be truly missed.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Ramiro Rodriguez and wife Michelle and Danny Deleon, all of Tahoka; three granddaughters, Kristyn, D’Nae and Breklyn; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Andrea Salinas and Gloria Deleon.
Due to the current pandemic, memorial services will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial donations can be made in Mary’s name to the Slaton Care Center.
Fredric “Ric” O. vonBerg of Lubbock passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020 at the age of 78. He was born February 11, 1942 in Albert Lee, Minnesota to John and Helene (Oliver) vonBerg. After high school Ric joined the U.S. Air Force serving from 1962-1966. After honorable discharge, he began working for AT&T, retiring after 30 years of service. Ric married Kathy Brown on April 11, 1964. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and had a variety of interests over the years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Mark vonBerg and wife Cathy and Ronda Brewer and husband Monty; sister, Lois vonBerg; grandchildren, Brandy Young, Eric and Whitney vonBerg, Lindsey and Brandon Grace, Lauren vonBerg, and Taylor and Jason Meurer; and great-grandchildren, Kaden, Emma, Kye, Landon, Jaelyn, Owen and Oliver.
Ric was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Kathy on March 7, 2013.
Open visitation will begin at noon on Monday, November 2, 2020 at Combest Family Funeral Homes with the family receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday November 3, 2020 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
Dorothy Mae Wright Draper, 82, of Tahoka passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020. She was born December 22, 1937 to Dewey and Ola Wright in Dimmitt, Texas. She graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1956 where she was a member of Future Homemakers of America. After high school, Dorothy worked for the Castro County Tax Office where she remained for almost 20 years. In 1975, after caring for her parents and family in Dimmitt, Dorothy met and married her husband Milt Draper and moved to Tahoka. They were married for 45 years. In Tahoka, Dorothy was an active member of First United Methodist Church and she spent many years working at Tubb Elementary as a teaching assistant. Dorothy was a sweet and energetic friend and neighbor. She was always happy to give away wonderful baked goods from her kitchen and beautiful flowers from her well-loved backyard.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Milt Draper; children, Susan Draper of Lubbock, and Amy and Arvak Marshall of West River, MD; grandchildren, Caden, Ryken and Malene Marshall; brother, Donald Wright of Dimmitt, TX; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Dewey and Ola Wright of Dimmitt, TX; brother, D.L. Wright; and aunt, Sarah Watson of Amarillo, TX.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Combest Family Funeral Homes, in Tahoka, TX. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 2, 2020 at Nevels Memorial Cemetery in Tahoka, TX.
Thomas “Tommy” West of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the age of 75. He was born May 21, 1945 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Tommy had an innocence about him that illuminated kindness and joy. He spent a lot of time coloring and loved the color red. His favorite toy was his red race car.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Bill Walker of Lubbock; aunt, Ivy Slaby; and niece and nephew Vanessa, Will and Jon Walker.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Merlin and Mary (Perrone) Ludwig.
