Zia students collect 821 cans of food to donate
CLOVIS (KSMX)- It’s a caring month at Zia Elementary and Recently Zia school had a contest to focus on their monthly Character Trait of caring.
Students collected 821 cans of food that were then donated to the Eastern New Mexico Food Bank.
Mrs. Aucutt’s kindergarten class was the winner of the contest.
Zia Elementary School will continue the focus of caring through the month of December by collecting items for CMS Family Services for students in need in the district. The items will be “new” socks and underwear that will decorate the CARING tree in the front lobby.
The items will be donated on December 20.
In another night of giving, Highland Elementary School recently hosted a Bingo for Books Family Engagement Night.
The event had over 90 families come out and enjoy a fun night of bingo that resulted in more than 150 books being placed in the hands of students.
