XCEL ENERGY’S $3 BILLION DOLLAR PROJECT TO PROVIDE MORE POWER FOR THE NEW MEXICO AND TEXAS AREAS

CLOVIS (KSMX)- The initiative of Power of the Xcel Energy’s $3 billion-dollar project involves hundreds of miles of new and updated high-voltage transmission lines in the Texas and New Mexico areas, which provide the pathways to move electricity from power sources to towns, cities and industrial sites. Economic expansion in the region, along with a need to upgrade and modernize the system, led officials to undertake the project.

Already this year, they have completed 70 miles of new transmission lines in Texas and New Mexico. A lot of the recent growth has taken place in New Mexico  and where development in the oil-rich Permian Basin continues at a strong pace.
