WOMAN HIT BY TWO CARS AND IN CRITICAL CONDITION

CLOVIS (KSMX)- Last Friday on May 24th at 10:00 pm, Curry County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 1379 US 60/84 for a crash involving a pedestrian who had been stuck by two vehicles. The investigation determined that Mary Jeffs (27, Clovis) had walked from the residence at 1379 US 60/84 and laid down in the westbound lanes of traffic. She was struck by a first car. The drivers called 911 and turned around to return to the scene. Before the driver of the first car arrived back to the scene, Jeffs was struck by a second vehicle.

A witness reported that Jeffs had consumed alcohol prior to the crash. She was then transported by ambulance to Plains Regional Medical Center, and later flown to a Lubbock medical facility with critical injuries. The drivers in the accident were not injured. The investigation into this crash is ongoing.
