Winter storm predicted to bring 4 to 7 inches of snow

CLOVIS (KSMX)- A winter storm warning has been issued in the high plains region of New Mexico as well as some of West Texas.

A brief break in the wintry weather is expected this afternoon, however, a more significant winter storm will move over New Mexico tonight through Tuesday night when many areas of northern and central New Mexico can expect moderate to heavy snowfall and colder temperatures.

Heavy snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches are predicted in South Central Highlands, Upper Tularosa Valley, Curry County, Roosevelt County, De Baca County, Chaves County Plains, Eastern Lincoln County and Southwest Chaves County from 11 pm this evening to 11 pm MST Tuesday.

Travel could be very difficult. Breezy conditions may result in localized areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility.
