WINTER STORM CONTINUED DELAYS AND CLOSURES
Delays and closures continue for Wednesday, as this early winter storm hangs over the High Plains. We’re expecting a mix of more snow, sleet, and freezing rain, with freezing cold temperatures and wind chill values in single digits. The storm is still expected to start to move out by Thursday, with temperatures back in the low 60s by this coming weekend. Please give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination and drive carefully. We will update this page in real time as we receive information on closures and delays. Here is a look at school and local business closures, early dismissals, and delays due to the inclement weather.
LOCAL SCHOOLS
Clovis Schools: All Clovis Municipal Schools students and employees will follow their regular Wednesday REMOTE work and learning schedules. Employees who occasionally work in-person on Wednesdays will also be required to work remotely due to current weather conditions. The requirement to work remotely does not apply to custodial, maintenance, and food service employees, whose work assignments may change as weather conditions change.
Clovis Christian Schools: CCS will cancel in person learning again on Wednesday due to the winter storm. Classes will continue online via Google Classroom for 2-12th grades. K and 1st have packets of assignments to complete.
Portales Schools: There will be no in-person school on Wednesday and all school buildings will be closed. However, online classes will continue as usual. Students who were scheduled to be at school in-person should log-in with their teachers at the regular time.
Texico Schools: Texico Schools will again be remote learning on Wednesday. No in-person instruction.
Melrose Schools: Melrose schools will be remote learning again on Wednesday. There will be no in-person instruction. 7th-12th will continue in their remote learning and elementary will continue working on their posted assignments.
Ft. Sumner Schools: There will be no live classes on Wednesday. Busses will not run and the cafeteria will be closed. Students will still be doing remote learning.
Farwell Schools: Farwell ISD has switched from delayed to closed for Wednesday.
Bovina Schools: Classes will begin at 10 a.m., buses will run two hours late on pavement only.
Friona Schools: Friona Schools will be remote learning only on Wednesday. No in-person instruction.
Hereford Schools: Hereford ISD has switched from delayed to closed for Wednesday.
Muleshoe Schools: Muleshoe ISD will begin classes at 10:00 on Wednesday. Buses will be delayed for two hours and will run on pavement only.
San Jon Schools: No word on delays or closures for Wednesday, as of the time of this post.
House Schools: No word on delays or closures for Wednesday, as of the time of this post.
Elida Schools: Elida Schools will continue with remote learning on Wednesday. No in person instruction.
Floyd Schools: In-person learning has been cancelled for Wednesday. Remote learning at home will continue.
Dora Schools: Dora Schools will have remote learning for all students on Wednesday. All after school practices are cancelled until further notice.
Grady Schools: No word on delays or closures for Wednesday, as of the time of this post.
Faith Triumphant Christian: No word on delays or closures for Wednesday, as of the time of this post.
COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES
ENMU: ENMU campus staff will be working remotely again on Wednesday, October 28th. All classes and services will be available online. The GSSC and the CDC will be closed both days.
CCC: Campus will and re-open with a 10AM MST start on 10/28. All virtual online classes continue as scheduled.
CANNON AFB
Official word from Cannon Facebook page: Update to Delayed Reporting. Non-Mission Essential personnel should not report until 1200 today, Wednesday, 28 OCT. All local flying operations have been cancelled until 1500L or later. The Medical Treatment Facility will be closed for patient appointments until 1200L today, Wednesday, 28 OCT. Ambulance and PH Hotline services will continue as mission essential.
GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND COURTS
- The Roosevelt County Early Voting Alternative Site held at the Jake Lopez Community Center will be closed again on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020. Early voting will continue at the Roosevelt County Clerk’s Office in the Roosevelt County Courthouse located at 109 W. First St. during regular business hours.
- Curry County non-essential government offices will open at 10am on Wednesday.
- Roosevelt County’s non-essential offices will open at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, October 28, 2020. This includes the Roosevelt County Clerk’s Office and early voting. State and local road crews are working to clear roadways.
- Magistrate and District Courts for Curry County and Roosevelt County will be on a 2-Hour Delay for 10/28/2020. Courts will open at 10:00AM.
HEALTHCARE FACILITIES
Clovis Family Healthcare will be on a 2 hour delay for Wednesday. If you have an appointment scheduled between 8-10 you will be contacted after 10 for a same day appointment. Telehealth and in person appointments as well as COVID -19 testing will be available 10am-5pm.
- The RGH clinics in Portales and Clovis will begin seeing patients at 10 am instead of 8 am. COVID screening clinic will also be open at 10 am.

Clovis Nazarene School has switched from delayed to closed for Wednesday.
