WIND SPEEDS CAUSE DAMAGE

EASTERN NM (KSMX) – With high speeds of wind throughout the majority of the day, a number of residents and businesses saw damage. This comes as no surprise, with the National Weather Service reporting that in portions of Curry County, wind speeds reached anywhere from 43-65 mph. In portions of Roosevelt County, gusts reached 52 mph. Although the High Wind Warning is set to expire soon, winds are still expected to be present throughout the evening, gusting as high as 40 mph. As a reminder, with dry conditions and high wind speeds, fires can spark and spread easily.
