WEEKEND COVID-19 UPDATE
As of Saturday, January 2nd, the State of New Mexico has reported 30 additional positive COVID-19 cases for Curry County, raising the total number to 4,127 for the county’s total amount.
The Plains Regional Medical Center has reported the following statistics as of Sunday morning, January 3rd, 2021: 16 people are currently hospitalized with the virus, and 2 are still currently in ICU. The public is encouraged to continue to abide by COVID-safe practices.

Last Wednesday, December 31st, 2020, The New Mexico Department of Health announced the updated statewide COVID-19 map for the two-week period beginning Dec. 30, with 32 counties at the Red Level.
Twenty-eight counties improved in at least one of the two health gating criteria metrics, and 21 counties improved in both health metrics. More counties are in close range of advancing to a less-restrictive level than at any point since the advent of the state’s color-coding system.
Curry County has improved in both of the health metrics, but not enough to get out of RED.
- Improved Test Positivity from 19.00% to 15.3%
- Improved Number of Cases per 100,000 from 62.40 to 43
