Wanted man detained in Clovis after fleeing US Marshalls in Portales
On Monday, August 19, members of the Region V Drug Task Force were contacted and requested to assist in finding Tevin Lee King. King is wanted out of Albuquerque, New Mexico for robbery, stemming from a home invasion.
It was reported that King wasc possibly headed to Clovis from the Hobbs area. Agents from the Clovis Police Department, assigned to the Region V Drug Task Force were dispatched to find him.
At 12:00 PM, a black Chevrolet Impala was seen in the parking lot of a Stripes Convenience Store located in Portales. Agents from the United States Marshall Service attempted to contact Tevin King at the Stripes, and the vehicle fled from the U. S. Marshall Service. The vehicle was lost in Roosevelt County, south of Portales, soon after the pursuit began.
A BOLO (be on the lookout) was issued in Clovis for the vehicle, with a cautionary warning that Tevin King tends to be violent towards police officers. The car was located entering the Clovis City Limits at about 1:00 PM.
Officers attempted to stop the car which fled from officers throughout the Clovis City Limits. The vehicle was involved in a crash on Columbia Lane bringing the vehicle pursuit to an end. There were no injuries during this vehicle pursuit and crash.
Tevin King was taken into custody for an outstanding federal warrant for armed robbery. Additional charges for aggravated fleeing, possession with intent to traffic fentanyl, and tampering with evidence are in the process of being charged.
