UPDATE: 3 residents test positive for COVID-19 at Wheatfields Senior Living
CLOVIS (KSMX)- As of last week, Wheatfields Senior Living was identified by the Department of Health with at least one positive case in a resident and/or staff member. After further inquiry, Communications Director for Wheatfields, Josh Bailey confirmed 8 positive cases among staff members and residents.
According to Bailey, as of late last night, August 5, there had been 5 confirmed COVID-19 cases among staff members and 3 cases among residents. All five staff members are at home recovering and “officials wish them a speedy recovery”. The three residents are in a unique area of the community called “Transitional Retreat”.
The program is specifically designed for new and existing residents to spend a specific period relaxing within a dedicated environment of Wheatfields Senior Living community. Residents in this program are introduced to a personal care concierge team member whose sole purpose is to provide room service, individualized activities, and quality time during this transition.
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham along with state health officials will hold a press conference at 3 p.m. to update the public on New Mexico’s COVID-19 efforts.
