Two wanted for theft at burned building in Clovis
CLOVIS (KSMX)- An arrest warrant for a Clovis couple has been issued by law enforcement on allegations of setting a structure fire on Valentine’s Day to cover up a robbery.
Daniel Aranda, 53, and Tamara Aranda, 58, are wanted on charges of non-residential burglary, conspiracy to commit non-residential burglary, larceny and tampering with evidence. The Eastern New Mexico News reported that “although court documents state investigators suspect the two started the fire just next to their residence to cover up their thefts, they currently face no charges in connection with the blaze”.
According to the Clovis Police Department, crews responded to the fire in the 1700 block of South Prince Street around 7:11 a.m on February 14.
Southbound traffic on South Prince Street was shut down due to the dangerous driving conditions while crews worked to subdue the fire.
