TWO TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER STANDOFF
HEREFORD (KSMX ) – Yesterday, two people were taken into custody after a standoff with police in Hereford. The Deaf Smith County Sheriff’s department announced via social media that when deputies from the Sheriff’s office and U.S. Marshall’s office, were serving an arrest warrant at a residence in Hereford, gunfire was exchanged between the suspects and law enforcement. At that time Amarillo Swat and the Randall County Swat teams were activated to the scene. Due to the situation, the local school was placed on a soft lockdown as a precautionary measure, and was later evacuated to the administration building. According to the post, it took several hours to negotiate with the two individuals who were inside the residence. They were eventually taken into custody without further incident.
