THANK YOU TO OUR TEACHERS

In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Week, a number of local organizations, businesses and volunteers teamed up to show love to all educators in Curry County. With more than 1,700 educators across 45 facilities throughout Clovis, Texico, Melrose, Grady and on Cannon Air Force Base, recognizing each important individual is no small feat. However, in true Clovis strong fashion, the community banded together and recognized these deserving educators with a variety of fun surprises and offerings.
Starting the week off strong, on Monday Clovis Mayor Mike Morris officially declared May 3-7, 2021 as Teacher Appreciation Week, while Chamber Ambassadors and volunteers wrapped all education buildings in love. By Tuesday afternoon, educators at all Clovis Municipal Schools, Clovis Christian School, Clovis Community College and schools in Melrose, Grady and Texico enjoyed hundreds of colorful paper hearts and notes decorating their buildings. Chamber Ambassadors also partnered with Plains Regional Medical Center volunteers on Wednesday for a cookie drive, in which they delivered more than 6,000 cookies to more than 45 locations in Curry County and on Cannon Air Force Base.
More than 1,700 teachers and education support staff – from preschool-age to higher education – received these delicious treats. Throughout the week, many Clovis area businesses are offering special discounts and free items to educators in celebration of their hard work. Additionally, thanks to the generosity of Bender Dealer Group and the High Plains Development Corporation, Clovis Municipal Schools will get to close out the special week with an exciting gift card drawing. The Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone who went out of their way to show appreciation to our local educators.
