Texas gears up reopening process; excludes Panhandle area
AMARILLO (KSMX)- On May 19, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that Potter, Randall, Moore, Deaf Smith, and El Paso County counties would be delayed by one week from the rest of Texas in the Phase 2 reopening process.
Gov. Abbott said the area around Amarillo is suffering the fastest growth of COVID-19 in Texas therefore precautions are being taken in the area pertaining to the recovery process.
In the announcement yesterday, Gov. Abbott announced that more Texas businesses will be allowed to either reopen or open at larger capacity.

Texas Businesses that will be able to reopen immediately include child care facilities, massage parlors, and youth clubs and sports facilities. On Friday, May 22, several other Texas businesses will be able to open at 25% capacity, including bars, bowling alleys, bingo halls, zoos and aquariums.
