Suspect in Clovis shooting arrested and in custody

Clovis, NM – On July 4, 2026, at approximately 2:28 a.m., Clovis Police Department Dispatch received an emergency telephone call regarding a subject with a gunshot wound. The caller relayed that the suspects left the scene in a vehicle. Clovis Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the apartment complex at 517 Reid Street. On arrival, Officers encountered a 13-year-old male with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center and then flown to a Lubbock, Texas hospital. The gunshot victim is reported to be in critical but stable condition.
Detectives of the Clovis Police Department and the Major Crimes Unit began their investigation and were able to identify a suspect and vehicle. The suspect, Jesus Roman Mandujano, 23 years of age, was contacted on July 4th, 2026. Following this contact, he was detained by New Mexico Adult Probation and Parole. On July 5th, 2026, following multiple interviews, an arrest warrant for shooting at or from a motor vehicle (resulting in great bodily harm) and possession of a firearm or destructive device by a felon, was drawn up and served on Jesus Roman Mandujano. Mandujano is currently in custody at the Curry County Adult Detention Center.
