Suspect identified in Clovis shooting

Clovis, NM – On June 20, 2026, at approximately 12:37 a.m., Clovis Police Department Dispatch received an emergency telephone call regarding a male subject who had been shot. Officers and Emergency Medical Services responded to the 1100 block of Main Street, locating a 22-year-old male in the roadway who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center by ambulance, ultimately succumbing to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as Eleno Cristobal Vicente Gallegos of Clovis, New Mexico.
The Major Crimes Unit was activated to investigate this homicide. During the investigation, Tony Hamilton-Evans (26 years of age) was identified as the suspect. An arrest warrant for Murder (1st Degree Felony) and Tampering with Evidence (3rd Degree Felony) has been generated for Tony Hamilton-Evans.
