SURVEY OFFERED TO HELP SAVE ROOSEVELT COUNTY ISD OFFICE

New Mexico Human Services Department is considering closing the Portales Income Support Division Office permanently, which has been shuttered since July 2020 when an employee tested positive for Covid-19.

NM Income Support Division serves low-income New Mexicans through SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Medicaid, LiHeap and more.

New Mexicans seeking assistance are being routed to the internet portal and a toll free number to handle all the paperwork to apply for services. If in-person services are needed, Roosevelt County residents would have to drive to Clovis. They are aware this could create barriers for many of their residents to access these vital services.

They need local data to support efforts in working with the State to maintain a physical office with some type of staffing for Roosevelt County residents.

Please take their survey, offered in English and Spanish, so they can learn about the ways this change impacts our local families.
