STATES ROLLING AVERAGE OF NEW COVID-19 CASES IS NOW AT 137 PER DAY

CLOVIS (KSMX) – With New Mexico’s daily number of new coronavirus cases dropping, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham stated in an interview Wednesday that the state seems to be on track to reopen school next month.

Data posted to the Department of Health’s coronavirus website shows according to the state’s seven-day rolling average of new COVID-19 cases, as of August 13th, New Mexico averaged 137 new COVID cases per day. That number is below the state’s gating criteria of 167 new cases per day.

While that data point is a key metric, the governor says New Mexicans should not expect expanded reopening next week, despite the fact that the state now meets all gating criteria.

On Wednesday, Curry County reported 8 additional cases and Roosevelt County reported 1 case.
