SPECIAL TACTICS AIRMEN DEPART IN RUCK
CANNON AFB (KSMX) – Friday, 20 Special Tactics airmen departed from the heart of Texas, for an 11-day, 830-mile ruck in honor of their own who have been killed in action since 9/11; according to a release from Cannon Air Force Base. Most recently to join that list is Staff Sgt. Dylan Elchin who was killed in action in Afghanistan November 27th, when the vehicle he and two other U.S. Army Solders were in hit an improvised explosive device. Elchin is the 20th Special Tactics airman killed in action since 2002. The ruck began in Texas, and will take 10 teams of two, to cover about 70 miles a day, reaching Florida on March 4th around 1 p.m.
