SPECIAL MEETING FOR CURRY COUNTY COMMISSION BOARD CAN LEAD TO SOME BIG DECISIONS
CLOVIS (KSMX)- At today’s special Curry County Commission Board meeting, board members will discuss a resolution that would call for an election from registered county voters to “adopt the local option provisions of the Liquor Control Act to allow for the sale, service and public consumption of alcoholic beverages within Curry County.” Officials stated if the resolution is approved, the item would be on the Nov. 5 general election ballot that will also include elections for school boards and the Clovis Community College Board of Trustees.
The board will also be discussing and requesting action on the unauthorized purchase of a vehicle by city treasurer, Debbie Spriggs. In the June 4thmeeting,the commission initially discussed the vehicle purchase Spriggs made but tabled the discussion in order to get answers about whether the vehicle could be returned. County Purchasing Agent, Troy Hall, stated the vehicle could not be returned and that it could only be sold to a governmental agency and the dealership would not be able to sell it to any other governmental agency as a used vehicle.
