Sandia Elementary Grab & Go meal distribution to resume

CLOVIS (KSMX)- Grab & Go Meal distribution for school-aged children will resume at Sandia Elementary School on Monday, May 4, 2020. Breakfast and lunch meals will be distributed from 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM through contactless pickup, per the press release from the administration.

With a daily service rate of approximately 100 students, and with the next closest meal site approximately a mile away, the District has determined that service provided by Sandia Elementary is critical. For that reason, additional measures have been taken to prepare and reopen the site to ensure meals are available to students in the surrounding community.

Earlier this week, the District announced it would cease meal distribution at the site for the remainder of the school year due to a potential risk of exposure of COVID-19.

Following the site closure, the District enacted COVID-19 exposure protocols and the facility was thoroughly disinfected. The decision to resume meal service at Sandia was made only after all potential exposure concerns were addressed.
