Ruidoso ravaged by flash flooding

Just weeks after two historic wildfires consumed parts of the village of Ruidoso along with the Mescalero Reservation, combined with immediate flooding in critical burn scar areas, more flash flooding struck the area this past weekend. The National Guard was activated in the area to help evacuate residents out of the area, with many houses and other properties receiving heavy damage due to flooding. In videos captured by locals, dumpsters, vehicles, and anything you can think of was being washed away in the flooding.

Currently, the village of Ruidoso along with Ruidoso Downs are under flood watch, with a 100% chance of rain today and for the following days. This weekend the area is also expecting more rain, which may come with more potential flooding.
