Roosevelt County recount scheduled for June 23

Portales, NM – The Roosevelt County Clerk, staff, and members of the 2026 Primary Election precinct boards, in the presence of a district court judge or judge’s designee, will be conducting a post-election voting system check or “audit/recount” of Roosevelt County Precinct #4.
The recount of Precinct 4 will take place on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 beginning at 8:30 am in the Commission Room of the Roosevelt County Courthouse.
The voting system check is part of the post-election audit process which is conducted following every state-wide election to check the accuracy of the vote tabulators used during the election by comparing a hand count of selected precincts to the machine tallied results. Section 1-14-13.2 NMSA 1978 contains a table that is used to determine the number of precincts to be included in the audit depending on the winning margin. Those precincts were determined by random sample of all precincts state-wide.
The County encourages members of the public to attend. The process is open to the public.
