Results of the 2020 Municipal Elections
CLOVIS (KSMX)- After considerable effort and long days of campaigning for the 2020 Municipal Election, candidates waited in anticipation Tuesday night for the results.
Out of a total of 18,379 register voters in Clovis, 24.47% made their way to the polls to vote for a new mayor and several city commission seats.
Michael Morris has been voted in as the new Mayor of Clovis. He edged out runner up, Steve North, 1510 votes to 1132.
“Thank you to the voters and citizens of Clovis. I look forward to being your mayor and I’m committed to doing a good job.”
According to the “Michael Morris for Mayor of Clovis” Facebook page, Morris ran for Mayor of the City of Clovis because he wants those that come after us to find that we were good stewards during this time. “I want to be involved in leading us to be a vibrant, prosperous community for generations to come.”
Leo Lovett was voted into the District 1 Commissioner seat with a total of 489 votes. Out of the 5,623 registered voters in District, 28.36% voted in Lovett’s favor.
“Thank you for your support. Hats off to everyone who ran, we all ran with class. I look forward to serving alongside Mike Morris and the other commissioners.”
