Potential risk of exposure closes grab and go meal site in Clovis

CLOVIS (KSMX)- According to a press release from Clovis Municipal School Administration, meals will not be provided at Sandia Elementary School for the remainder of the school year due to a potential risk of exposure of COVID 19.

Meals will not be provided at Sandia Elementary School for the remainder of the school year to allow time for safe and appropriate cleaning, as well as provide time for staff members to self-quarantine and monitor for symptoms.

The potential exposure of an employee was discovered Sunday, and while District officials worked to gather more information, the closure of the Sandia Grab & Go meal site was announced to allow families time to make alternate plans for meal pick-up.

All meal sites in the District have been observing public health guidelines and meals have been distributed through a contactless, walk-up distribution system. Additionally, meals are prepared by staff wearing gloves and masks, eliminating human contact with food or packaging.

Previous to the development at Sandia Elementary, the meal site at Gattis Middle School was closed due to low participation. Distribution at that site was shifted to Barry Elementary School.
