PORTALES ATTORNEY TO RECEIVE SUSPENSION FROM SUPREME COURT

PORTALES (KSEL) A local attorney faced a disciplinary hearing before the New Mexico Supreme Court this morning. Full details on the outcome will be provided through the Court in the coming days, but it was found that Portales attorney Eric Dixon will be allowed 30 days to tend to his practice in servicing his clients and current cases, but he will then be suspended for a period of nine months. The New Mexico Disciplinary Board had recommended a suspension of practice for one year, with another panel suggesting six months. In the end, the Court opted to compromise those recommendations to nine months. The controversial attorney has faced disciplinary action in the past, including being censured after an incident involving threatening a judge in 2011.
