PORATLES COMMUNITY WISHES TO SHOWS THEIR APPRECIATION TO FIRE RESPONDERS.
POTRALES (KSEL)- The wildfires that happened on April 10th left a lasting impression in mind when it came to those who fought to keep others safe. Crews of 153 respondents to the fires stayed on the scene late into the evening containing fires that had reached over 1000 acres of private property new South Roosevelt Road 6 and New Mexico 267. Four homes had been lost as well as someone suffering from smoke inhalation. However, without the help of those who came to aid in this event, things could have been much worse.
Executive Director of Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce, Karl Terry, stated that “we want to make sure these brave people know how much they are appreciated by giving the public a chance to come out and tell them Thank You”. On May 9th, the Chamber of Commerce partnered with other sponsors, will host an evening where respondents and their families can grab something to eat and feel appreciated. It will include food, drinks and special presentations. This event will be open to the public.
