Police Officer turns himself in

On the morning of August 9, 2024, former Clovis Police Officer Frank Careri arrived at the Curry County Detention Center where he turned himself in. Careri was walked into the Curry County Adult Detention Center where he was booked on the charges of trafficking- controlled substances , accessory to residential burglary, harboring a felon, and conspiracy to commit residential burglary.

This comes after a warrant was issued for Careri’s arrest following evidence that he was conspiring with someone. According to KVII Channel 7; in February 2023, the Clovis Police Department interviewed a woman who told investigators Careri was providing her with information and drugs in exchange for nude pictures. This prompted a complaint to be filed and an investigation into the allegations against Careri. Not too long after the investigation started, Careri resigned from being an officer at Clovis Police Department.

Clovis PD then contacted District Attorney Quentin Ray who determined having an additional jurisdiction to help with the review and investigation would be beneficial.
