PIPELINE PROJECT RECEIVES OVER $4.3 MILLION FROM BUREAU OF RECLAMATION

EASTERN NM (KSMX) – The Eastern New Mexico Rural Water Supply Project will receive a total of $4,347,000 from the US Bureau of Reclamation’s 2019 fiscal year budget. The project, once completed, will deliver reliable water to Cannon Air Force Base, Clovis, Grady, Elida, Melrose, Portales, Texico, and Roosevelt and Curry counties. Last month, both US Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich requested that the Bureau allocate additional funding to the water project in eastern New Mexico from an additional discretionary fund secured through this year’s appropriations bill. The more than $4.3 million represents the largest single-year award from the Bureau of Reclamation to the pipeline project, and brings the total federal funding to over $20 million.
