PFC Thomas Vernon Long to be interred after 80 Years
PORTALES, NM
PFC Thomas Vernon Long will be interred in the Portales Cemetery on Thursday, June 8th, at 10:00 am. There is a possibility of hundreds of people attending, and as a result, his surviving sister, age 96, will have a special set aside section.
About PFC Thomas Vernon Long:
PFC Thomas Long was one of 54 men from Roosevelt County in the New Mexico National Guard’s 200th Coast Artillery, which was involved in the infamous Bataan Death March. PFC Long died in the Cabanatuan prison camp on August 28, 1942.
