CLOVIS (KSMX)- After an outage that affected 4,555 customers, officials have confirmed that a minor was injured after coming into contact with a power line Tuesday night.
The minor was not identified but it was noted that he received third-degree burns to his arm.
According to reports and a Statement from Xcel at approximately 7:30 last night, someone who was not authorized to be in the area had gotten into the East Clovis Substation and made contact with energized equipment.
The protective devices that were in operation had shut down the substation causing outages in some areas.
Xcel crews on the scene, along with first responders learned that someone had been injured and had quickly de-energized the substation from the dispatch center for safety reasons.
First responders were able to help the person out of the substation and officials were able to restore service at 7:40 p.m.
