NUMBER OF NM OFFICIALS INTERESTED IN RUNNING FOR TOM UDALL’S SENATE SEAT

NEW MEXICO (KSMX) – More leaders are considering running for Tom Udall’s soon-to-be vacant Senate seat. Congressman Ben Ray Lujan is said to be “seriously” considering it. Another member of Congress, Deb Haaland has expressed interest. For the GOP names include Mick Rich, an Albuquerque contractor, Former Lt. Gov. John Sanchez, state GOP chairman Steve Pearce and former 2nd Congressional District candidate Gavin Clarkson. Attorney General Hector Balderas announced earlier today that he has decided not to run for the open seat. Balderas cites personal and professional reasons, saying he loves being New Mexico’s top prosecutor.
