NMPED PROVIDES GUIDANCE ON COVID-19 CASES IN SCHOOLS

The New Mexico Public Education Department has provided guidance regarding COVID-19 cases in schools. A decision tree shows that students who are experiencing symptoms at school should tell a teacher or supervisor immediately and go to isolation until pick up can occur. If a test result is negative, students need to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. If a test is positive, students will need to remain home until 10 days after onset of symptoms, 24 hours fever free and symptoms improving. Those exposed to a confirmed positive test will also need to stay home for 14 days after exposure.
