NMDOT OFFICIALS REMIND DRIVERS TO USE CAUTION IN WORK ZONES

NEW MEXICO (KSMX) – Spring road construction is ramping up as warmer temperatures arrive and highway officials with the New Mexico Department of Transportation want to remind you to slow down and don’t be distracted in work zones. Next week is National Work Zone Awareness Week and the department is offering tips to stay safe this season as in 2017, there were 780 work zone crashes in New Mexico; 220 caused injuries and four were fatal. When driving in work zones, slow down, pay attention to signs, stay alert, be patient and stay calm. Work zone delays can be found at www.nmroads.com.
