NM SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS PORTALES ATTORNEYS DISBARMENT
PORTALES (KSEL) – An attorney from Roosevelt County is still not being allowed to practice law. Attorney Eric Dixon learned this week that he’s been ordered to take ethics classes and then wait nine months after that in order to apply for reinstatement with the New Mexico Bar Association. Dixon was disciplined late last year for filing a lawsuit that claimed an inmate at the county lockup was injured in a pepper spraying incident. Turns out, the woman was actually involved in a separate incident. But when Dixon was notified of the error, state ethics officials say he lied and tried to cover up his mistakes.
