NM SENATORS SHOW OPPOSITION FOR FUNDING BEING TAKEN FROM BASES

NEW MEXICO (KSMX) – Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich have expressed their concern and opposition over President Donald Trumps Emergency Declaration, noting the amount of funds it would take from New Mexico military bases. The White House released the list from the Department of Defense detailing which funding could be targeted to pay for the border wall. The national emergency was declared last month. According to the list, New Mexico military construction projects that could be impacted include $85 million from Holloman Air Force Base, $40 million from White Sands Missile Range, $7 million from Kirtland Air Force Base, and $42 million from Cannon Air Force Base. Those funds are to build new facilities for combat arms training and maintenance and a new cargo pad area.
