NM ATTORNEY GENERAL FILES LAWSUIT AGAINST AIR FORCE
CANNON AFB (KSMX) – Today, the New Mexico Attorney General, along with the Environment Department filed a lawsuit against the United States Air Force to compel the military to address the contamination issues caused by decades of PFAS used at Cannon and Holloman Air Force bases. The Department says in the “absence of cooperation by the Air Force, the New Mexico Environment Department will move swiftly and decisively to ensure protections for both public health and the environment.” The complaint states that the contamination constitutes an imminent and substantial danger to communities on and off base. One of those largely affected is Highland Dairy, near Cannon, who had to close down as a result of the contamination. It also issues immediate request to the Air Force to clean up contamination at the bases and pay for abatement activities.
