New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department warns residents against scam.

The New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department (TRD) says some residents have reported receiving fake letters claiming that a warrant has been issued due to unpaid property taxes. TRD assures New Mexicans that these letters are a scam and that they do not issue warrants to collect taxes.

These fake letters are going to individuals with outstanding property tax debts, claiming to help resolve the debt, providing a fraudulent phone number to call in order to prevent a warrant.

If you suspect fraudulent activity, you can contact the TRD fraud hotline at 1-866-457-6789 or email a report to Tax.Fraud@tax.nm.gov.
