NEW MEXICO SECOND HARDEST HIT BY SHUTDOWN

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A recent study published by WalletHub shows New Mexico as the second most affected state in the nation by the government shutdown. During the shutdown, tens of thousands of federal employees and agencies are affected, a good number of those are in the Land of Enchantment; KRQE reports. The reports factors in the number receiving the federal food benefits, SNAP. New Mexico is also in the top ten for highest number of federal jobs at locations including Sandia and Los Alamos National Labs, White Sands Missile Range, among other many federal facilities and National Parks. The only other state affected more than New Mexico is the District of Columbia, with Maryland not far behind New Mexico.
