NEW MEXICO ROADS LAND ON MOST DANGEROUS LIST

NEW MEXICO (KSMX ) – A new report shows New Mexico in the top 10 list of most Dangerous Roads in America. According to 247wallst.com, New Mexico ranks fifth on the list in 2018. The rate of motor vehicle fatalities in New Mexico was 18.47 per 100,000 people, or 387 deaths. By comparison, nationally there were about 12 fatalities per 100,000 Americans. The percentage of fatalities in the state due to drivers not wearing their seat belts was 51%, landing it 14th highest. Fatal crashes that occurred on rural roads however, was 56%, or 24th lowest in the nation. Coming in first as most dangerous roads, was Mississippi.
