New Mexico Attorney General files lawsuit against Google
In a federal lawsuit filed Thursday, the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office has alleged Google violated the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act through its education products.
Protection of student privacy and compliance with federal laws providing for those protections have always been ongoing priorities for Clovis Municipal Schools in the use of educational technologies.
All technology used in classrooms or by students undergoes a vetting process for compliance and safety at the time of implementation, safeguards and privacy settings are vigilantly applied, and ongoing monitoring takes place at the district level to provide for the protection of student data.
The Attorney General’s Office has provided additional tips for families to verify or update their children’s Google privacy settings.
