New Mexico 2020 Primary Election still slated for June 2

CLOVIS (KSMX)- Though many headlines have centered around the current Coronavirus health pandemic, the Curry County Clerks offices would like to remind the public that New Mexico 2020 Primary Election is still slated for June 2.

The deadline to register to vote, or make changes to a current voter registration, is May 5. Citizens may verify current voter information, by visiting www.nmvote.org or calling the Clerk’s Office at 575-763-5591.

If you submitted a new voter registration application or updated your information after February 4, the information will not be processed until books re-open, beginning April 7, pursuant to the closure of voter registration by State Law for the recent Municipal Elections, per the Clerk’s office press release.

New Mexico has closed Primary Elections; therefore, you must be registered with a major political party to be eligible to cast a ballot in the 2020 Primary Election.

  • Absentee Ballot Applications are currently being accepted by the Clerk’s Office. In order to receive an absentee ballot by mail, an Absentee Ballot Application must be submitted to the Clerk’s Office prior to 5:00 pm on Friday, May 29.
  • Applications may be obtained from the Clerk’s Office by calling 575-763-5591 or submitted online through the NM Secretary of State’s website at www.nmvote.org.
  • The Clerk’s Office will begin mailing out Absentee Voting materials Tuesday, May 5, 2020.
