MOTOR-VEHICLE CRASH INVOLVING TWO VEHICLES SHUT DOWN ROADS FOR FOUR HOURS

CLOVIS (KSMX)- Curry County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a motor-vehicle crash, involving two vehicles, at the intersection of Curry Road O and US 60/84. The investigation has determined that a 1998 Western Star semi-tractor was traveling north on Curry Road O. The vehicle was traveling from Kentucky to Arizona. The semi-tractor was pulling an oversize houseboat, measuring approximately 74’ x 15’, and was being escorted by an oversize load pilot vehicle.
While attempting a left turn at the intersection of US 60/84, the driver failed to yield and was struck by an eastbound 2017 Ford F 150 pickup, driven by Mark Martinez. Martinez, who was injured during the crash, was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center, and later by ambulance to a medical facility in Lubbock, Texas. His condition is listed as serious but stable.
US 60/84, from Curry Road N to State Road 311, was closed for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated and the scene cleared and made safe. The investigation is on-going and enforcement action is pending.
