Missing Amarillo girl found alive after 13 years

14 year old Jessica Delgadillo vanished without a trace on October 20, 2010 after leaving her house on the 1300 block of North Bolton in Amarillo, Texas.

Jessica’s parents reported her missing to the Amarillo Police Department after she failed to return from school that day.

After six months without any leads and no evidence of foul play, Sergeant Brent Barbee declared it a cold case.

In 2023, Amarillo investigators established the Cold Case Unit and focused in on Delgadillo’s disappearance once again.

The Cold Case Unit teamed up with two investigators from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCEMC) with the purpose of solving the cold cases of Dorien Thomas, Brandy Noble and Jessica Delgadillo.

Investigators set about updating the information gathered on each case and pushed out this information to the public via social media.

On November 2, 2023, the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit received a call from a woman saying she was Jessica Delgadillo. The woman told investigators she knew she had been reported missing back in 2010.

The police took DNA from the woman claiming to be Delgadillo and sent them to the University of North Texas for examination.

Following several months, DNA confirmed that the woman was in fact Jessica Delgadillo.

Jessica requested that the details of her disappearance and information about her location not be released. Her case has now been officially closed, and investigators are focusing their efforts on the two additional cold cases.
