MESA REST AREA IMPROVEMENTS COMING SOON

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District Two has determined that Mesa Rest Area, which was built in 1989, has exceeded its useful service life and will require significant improvements. The estimated cost to replace the buildings is $1.7 million.
To ensure restroom services remain available to Mesa Rest Area, the south building will remain open, while the north side is being rebuilt. Work will include new building design with modern innovations, new water system, and American with Disabilities Act restroom facilities.
Mesa Rest Area is located between Roswell and Vaughn on U.S. 285.
District Two operates this rest area and two others with restroom
facilities in southeastern New Mexico. For updates on this project visit the department’s road condition website www.nmroads.com<http://www.nmroads.com>.
