MAN WHO ESCAPED JAIL EARLIER THIS YEAR SENTENCED ON OTHER CRIMES

CLOVIS (KSMX) – A Clovis man received the maximum sentence in prison for a number of crimes. District Attorney Andrea Reeb announced that 32-year old Aaron Clark was sentenced to 18 years in prison, with six years suspended in favor of supervised probation. Clark was also one of the three who escaped from the Curry County Detention Center back in June, in which he faces additional charges on. In September, a Curry County jury convicted Clark of child abuse, possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with evidence. He had been arrested this year in February when Clovis Police officers found that Clark had an outstanding warrant during a traffic stop, and that he had hidden a bag of methamphetamine under his sleeping infant. Some of the sentence was enhanced after the court found that Clark was a habitual offender. Judge Fred Van Soelen presided over the case.
