MAN FOUND GUILTY FOR 2017 CLOVIS ASSAULT CRIME

CLOVIS (KSMX) An Albuquerque man was found guilty by a Curry County jury yesterday of CSP, a third-degree felony. 29-year-old Brandon Barron was found guilty on the charge that stems from March of last year, when Clovis Police responded to Plains Regional Medical Center in regards to a victim suffering from severe injuries due to a sexual assault. According to the victim, Barron, a vacuum salesman, had assaulted her in her home over a period of time. The jury heard testimony over the one-day trial from the victim, a sexual assault nurse examiner, a DNA lab analyst from the New Mexico State Crime Lab and a Clovis Police Officer. The Honorable Judge Fred Van Soelen presided over the trial, ordering sentencing be held at a later date pending a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the Adult Probation Office. He faces up to three years in prison, and is also pending a criminal case in Bernalillo County for Aggravated DWI.
