MAN ARRESTED AFTER HOSTAGE SITUATION IN CLOVIS

CLOVIS (KSMX) – Yesterday morning just after 8:35 am, an incident led Clovis Police Officers to the Clovis Apartments located at 1000 Martin Luther King Boulevard in reference to a possible hostage situation. The incident also led a nearby elementary to be placed on lockdown. According to Clovis PD, the caller relayed information to dispatch that a person, identified as 38-year-old Cesar Murillo was hold a female hostage. Officers made attempts for over an hour at the apartments; however, received no response. Due to information relayed to police about Murillo’s history, and the possibility of a firearm being involved in the incident, the Clovis Police SWAT team was active. Residents in the complex near the complex were evacuated due to safety. Just before noon, after receiving no response at the residence, a search warrant was executed on the apartment where Murillo and the female were located. Murillo surrendered just before 1:00 p.m., and was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant, and resisting evading, or obstructing an officer.  The female was also located, declining that anything had occurred.
